Video-Loop (00:02:30) 2023, Braunschweig
This Video-Loop consist of two hand-puppets that resemble wolf-like creatures and two
anthropomorphic cakes who engage in a repetitive dialog with each other. The dialog, that is
stitched together from various found footage, centers around two wolves and two cakes. The dialog always positions one figure in competition to another “which cake wins?” or “which wolve wins?”, creating tension not only between the wolves vs. the cakes but also between the members of these two “species” themselves.
„custome cake swap“ explores the limiting effects that binary constructs have on discussions about gender, power-dynamics and other socio-political issues. It aims to expose how the cruelty of binary systems influences our relations to one another as well as how these issues can hide in even the most inanimate objects. Hidden beneath a layer of cuteness the story quickly ends with the wolf-puppets consuming the cakes in a destructive manner. Encouraging
the recipient to understand, how binary world views on gender
